living with regret

when i see awesome stuff like the cover of outdoor life, i sit and think to myself: "did i take the right path in life? is going to the museum to see a depressed norwegian painter really better than covering myself in deer scent and sitting in a 'tree fort' for hours on end hoping to catch a glimpse of a beautiful 12 point buck so that i can shoot a hole in him the size of a carburetor?" the bountiful amounts of deer jerky alone would make the outdoor life choice a worthwhile pursuit for any red-blooded american male.

Who says you can't have both? But I sense some crafty witticism on your part. Are you honestly conflicted with this dilemma? Or is the thought of you blowing a hole the size of a carburetor like you say through an animal troubling to you?

I can just see you sitting in a tree covered in deer scent waiting for the animal to come to you! The pouring rain would just make your day!

What about perhaps blowing a hole through the artwork of said swedish/norweigan? Same amount of fire power, less deer "scent" (come on, we all know it's urine, and calling it scent don't make it cool!), and more interesting headlines in the NY Times the next day ....

josh is on to something here. maybe if there were more red-blooded american men roaming the streets instead of starring at museum walls, we would not have all these damned wolf attacks!
